For some unknown reason I had fallen asleep on the ground that night. But at an indetermined time while I was sleeping I felt the earth move violently. Was it an earthquake or just a nightmare? Even though I felt the earth move directly under me the sound was way off in the distance. It must have been the alcohol that I had drunk last night. That's when the sound rumbled even louder and the earth shook even more.

Bob Cole was a 15 year old boy when he started at Family Grocers as a stock boy in the grocery aisles. He was still in high school and any money was good money when you're in your teens. 

As a boy on the farm, the young Theodore had trouble sleeping. He did not like the dark and believed that there were monsters in his small bedroom. When the situation got bad enough his parents had a talk with him and told them that monsters weren't real and they were all in his head. Theodore told his parents that the monsters were real in his head. By the time Theodore had reached six years old the problem had not gone away so his mother decided that she would sit in a rocking chair beside his bed and hum to him until he fell asleep. From the first night Theodore felt instant comfort and relaxation with his mother's presence and within minutes of his head hitting the pillow he would fall asleep. It was uncanny when Theodore's mother left the rocking chair that he would awaken, sensing even while he was sleeping that she was gone. He would open his eyes and the rocking chair would be empty and sometimes he would see her walking out of his room. Sometimes he would call to her to come back but she told him that she had to get her sleep too.
