I crawled into my tent after a hard day of hiking in the mountains. Beside me was my rusted but trusted double barrel shotgun that was more than powerful enough to bring down a bear which was my biggest fear in this neck of the woods.
About twenty years I was in management with a man that was nearly twice my age, his name was Sam Hellmond. At the time I was the assistant supervisor in a small grocery store. The head supervisor was fired for theft so Sam came over to take up the position.
During the 1930s there was a division amongst Ukrainian Canadians. Half of the Ukrainians were pro Canada and free economy and the other half was pro communist anarchist revolutionaries who hated the capitalist system and wanted new world order.
Ever since he was a kid in the 1950s Oscar liked a good lightning storm. He was not the type that shyed away from walking out into a middle of a field as the thunderheads moved in. People would watch the young man as he would try and get as close to the eye of the storm as possible. He became obsessed with lightning and every time there was a summer storm he tried to see how close he could get to being struck by lighting. He loved the thunder claps that would send people running for cover. The louder the thunder the closer the lightning.
There is a man that currently roams the Canadian Prairies. This man is rumored to be headless according to the dozens of people that have witnessed his presence at night on the fields and in the bushes. He has a reputation and it is murderous one as he decapitated over twenty five people over the last two decades. The police have scoured the countryside looking for the headless man, but he continues to elude authorities. The police believe that the over two dozen witnesses are mistaken in the identity of the man claiming that he is headless. The police site the fact that the headless man could be in fact a product of mass hysteria. The police do not contest that there is a decapitator that lurks out in the prairies but they do contest that he is headless. But how could one account for all of the witnesses who claimed to see the headless man. Maybe he was wearing a mask or playing some sort of trick on the people to conceal his identity.
