After his first sexual adventure Aaron felt not only that he lost his virginity but that he had also lost his innocence. The next day he dumped his girlfriend at the shoe store and started to date one of the strippers. He would go to the strip club nearly every night to watch her dance. Sometimes he was with Z and other times he was by himself. Aaron became jealous because she would take patrons into the same room that they had gone into. She claimed that all she was doing was giving them a lap dance, but he did not believe her. He started to flirt with the other strippers to make her jealous which ended up in a series of one night stands and the eventual break up with his stripper girlfriend. It was the low point of his life and he was now obsessed with the thought that he could have picked up an STD.
As for his relationship with Z, not much had changed until one night the two were together and Z got a phone call. The call upset Z greatly. Z stepped on the gas and five minutes later they had arrived at a hotel. He stopped the truck and hammered on a hotel door. A girl answered and he slapped her across the face and dragged her out onto the lawn of the hotel and threw her to the ground and kicked her repeatedly. He then got back into the Escalade and they drove off to another location. They cruised the streets slowly. Z was looking for someone when he found the man he stopped the SUV and got out. The man tried to run but it was too late. Z had him by the hair and right there in the middle of the sidewalk he started to beat the man to a pulp and stomped on the man's head a couple of times for good measure. Aaron thought the man was dead. He could not believe what he had seen. Moments later Z was back in the Escalade and they drove off. Aaron was dropped off at home, the whole drive Z said nothing as he was lost in his thoughts.
The next day Aaron read the news online and saw two articles about the beatings. The woman was in stable condition with broken ribs and the man was not so lucky. He was in critical condition with head injuries. Aaron finally put 2 and 2 together to realize that Z was high level gangster and he had beat up one of his pimps and prostitutes. Aaron became deeply scared and wanted out of his relationship with Z badly. He didn't hear from Z for a couple of days which gave him time to think up a plan to get out of the friendship. But now he was a witness to 2 brutal crimes and he worried that if the man died he would be a witness or an accomplice to a murder.
Aaron continued to hang with Z and his violent reign of terror continued. Over the next two weeks Aaron witnessed 6 more ferocious beatings by Z. One in particular bothered him because when Z came back to the Escalade he was covered in blood.
Aaron had had enough and decided to go Z's house to tell him they could not be friends anymore. But before he could speak, Z told him that he needed him to lie in court about one of the beatings, and say that he was attacked. Aaron said no and told Z they couldn't be friends anymore. Z told him it doesn't work that way because he knew too much.
Over the next couple of months Z continually harrassed Aaron, calling him all the time, sitting at his workplace for hours, knocking on the door of his family's house at all hours of the day. He wanted Aaron to lie in court. Then 3 months later Z was convicted and sentenced to 2 years in jail.
Over that 2 years Aaron tried to enjoy life but in the back of his mind he kept thinking about Z and the day he would get out. Then the day came and Z's harrassment of Aaron continued. In fact it continued for years after. Z had killed Aaron's cat and taped the cat's eyeballs to Aaron's bedroom window and left a note taped to the window saying, "I'm watching you."
Aaron tried to learn to live with the harassment which lessened somewhat over time but then just when he thought it was over and he would never see Z again. He appeared once again. Z eventually got married and had kids and then died of a massive heart attack at 58. He left behind three boys ages 18,19, and 20.
Finally after nearly 30 years Aaron was free from torment. But he had developed a horrible nervous condition and heart problems from over wrought nerves and stress related anxiety.
Aaron sat in his parents home which he had inherited and thought pleasantly about his future. He was beginning to relax. Then one night there was someone hammering at the front door at 3am. Aaron got up to answer the door. He opened it and there were 3 men standing there. Only one spoke and said, "We would like to introduce ourselves. We're Z's sons. You'll be seeing more of us. Have a nice evening."
