And slowly I dozed off into the land of winks...
I was walking down the street in the small town where my auntie lived and for some reason I felt it was urgent that I got to see her as quickly as possible. She had called me earlier and told me that she had an envelope for me, but she wouldn't tell me what was inside.
As I walked I noticed that the sidewalk before me disappeared and turned into grass. The sidewalks, driveways and roads were all grass and the people's lawns were all made of concrete. I didn't know why but for whatever reason the concrete and grass were reversed. Making my way down the grass sidewalk I noticed that about half a block away from my aunties there was a wooden wall that was extended across the grass sidewalks and streets. I walked up to it and then turned my head from side to side to see how far it extended; it extended as far as my vision could see. I looked up and the wall became lost into the clouds. Feeling the wall I could hear that there was someone on the other side doing the same. I yelled to them and they yelled back but I couldn't understand what they were saying. The voice soon died.
To my side there was a shovel so I grabbed it and started digging. For almost three hours I dug and was a good eight feet into the earth. I expected hard clay but instead I discovered soft mud. There was a hollow under the wooden wall that was like an underground tunnel. I slipped down into the hole I had dug, the whole time worrying that it would cave in and I would suffocate to death.
Crawling through the soft muck made me realize that making ones way through mud was the equivalent of walking in quicksand. As I slipped my way through the slime, everytime I tried to pull myself forward the mud oozed through my fingers. I then grabbed onto what I thought was a tree root but as I pulled myself closer I realized that it was an arm of a human. I came face to face with a head covered in mud and felt for a pulse, but the person was dead long ago. I wiped away the mud on the arm and felt the skin. It was clammy and had a corpse-like texture. I passed by the corpse and several minutes later I encountered another one. Apparently I was not the only one who had tried to make it past the wall by tunneling. I took a closer look at the face and was horrified to see that it was the face of my sister. I went back to the first body to make an identification and sadly it was one of my auntie's daughters.
Slowly I plowed my way through the mud and saw all of my dead cousins who had tried to make it back to their mother's house. Hours later I could see my auntie's house at the end of the tunnel. Desperately I tried to make it through the last hundred meters when a torrent of hot water came steaming into the tunnel. I fought for my life, unable to breath as I choked in the water. The water washed me back down the tunnel to where I had entered.
And then I woke up...
Face down in my auntie's bath choking on the water.
