The Men in the Chairs

My eyes started to flutter and then became half closed and then fully closed. I fell asleep.

​I had walked along the highway for several hours when a building appeared in the distance. Step by step I shuffled but the building didn't seen to be getting any closer. Then only seconds later the building was right in front of me. It appeared to be a restaurant but there were no cars in the parking lot. I looked through the windows and I could see men sitting inside, so I entered. 

There was a sign that read, "Please wait to be seated." I waited but nobody came. None of the men at the tables were talking; they just sat there like mannikins. There was only one sound in the restaurant and that was of an air conditioner making an awfully loud humming noise and at random intervals it would make a series of unnerving rattling sounds. It was very cold inside the restaurant, too cold for a normal human being to be comfortable.

I decided to seat myself and walked by the men that sat so still. I yelled in their ears but none of them flinched. I grabbed onto one of the men's cheek muscles and pulled on it. The skin was definitely real and they were definitely human, but for some reason they could not see me and did not react to any of my probings. I looked at the faces one last time and then sat down in a corner waiting to be served, but after ten minutes it appeared that nobody was going to take my order. 

The room grew silent as the humming and rattling air conditioner suddenly shut off. The lights of the restaurant then started flickering and without notice the lightbulbs of every lighting fixture popped out, smashing to the floor. I looked up at the light fixtures which were hollowed half spheres, almost like a metal hat. Several of them started to descend on wires from the ceiling. About half of the men now had the metal light fixtures sitting atop their heads like hats. There was then a loud thunking noise as the men's heads got sucked into the metal light fixtures. It was as if the fixtures were like powerful magnets. The light fixtures then ascended to the top of ceiling; there the men dangled in the air.

Next came a clicking noise and the fans attached to the ceiling started spinning and slowly sunk down like a whirling blade. I watched in horror as the fan blades were only inches away from the heads of the remaining seated men. Seconds later there was series of hacking noises, like a butcher slashing a piece of raw meat. Blood splattered and heads rolled onto the floor like bowling balls. At that point I sensed I was going to be next.

Just as I tried to get up to leave I realized that I was stuck. A second later a giant mouth formed in behind me on my seat. I could feel its tongue, teeth and hot breath. It then opened wide and I was swallowed whole.

And then I woke up.

And my giant pit bull was breathing in my face and licking me dry.
