HYPNOTIC STATE AND TRANCES

The Red Light at the End of the Hallway

10/14/2020

Slowly I entered into the hypnotic state...
I was walking through a parking lot the morning after the carny had left town when I noticed part of a haunted house had been left behind. Even though I had seen it from a distance I was able to recognize it because of the ghouls and demons painted brightly on the sides. As I got closer it appeared that the section of the haunted house that had been left behind was a very long structure that resembled a rectangle. I measured it with my eye and I guesstimated that it had to have been over two hundred feet in length.

I walked up to the one end where there was a door and I could hear music coming from inside. I opened it up and could now clearly hear the theme music from the movie, Halloween. Looking down the hallway I noticed a red dot at the end. I stepped inside and the door slammed shut in behind me.

Inside I started to walk slowly on the sheet metal floor, the whole time I kept my eye on the red light at the end of the hallway. After about twenty seconds of walking a siren screamed out, a light flashed and a face of girl I knew appeared on a boxing speedbag which had snapped down from the roof of the hallway. I gave the speedbag several rapid fists and it disappeared back into the ceiling. Walking on the sheet metal floor gave me the sensation that the floor was about to move out from under my feet.

Seconds later the floor caved in but I did not fall through. The floor had collapsed into the shape of a "V". It became nearly impossible to walk on because you were stepping on the sides of your feet and using your ankles to move forward. Then there was another flash of light, a loud hooting noise and the face of girl I knew suddenly reappeared on one of the side walls with a bulls eye target on her forehead. I didn't know what to do. A laugh echoed from somewhere and her face vanished off the wall.

I kept walking towards the red light, never seeming to make any progress towards it. The floor remained "V" shaped and the Halloween music still played in the background as a music loop which started to make my head spin in circles. I was now regretting entering the haunted house, thinking that I might not be able to get out. I turned around for the first time to see how far I had gone, but it was impossible to tell in the darkness. I extended my hand to the back of me and the door was still there. Was it possible that I had not moved at all since I had entered? I tried to find a door handle but there wasn't one. Like a maniac I started to hammer on the door screaming for someone to let me out. A voice yelled out, "Don't bang on the door."

The lights then came on in the hallway and the girl I knew was walking in front of me. I followed her hoping she knew the way out. I called her name but she did not respond. We were nearing the end of the hallway where there was a coffin. She opened the lid, turned around and smiled at me with blood oozing from her mouth. She then pulled a chain saw out of the coffin and started it up. Laughing, she started to chase me, but tripped, the chainsaw cut right through the floor, she fell through and disappeared.

I then started smashing the walls to escape and finally broke through and fell to the ground outside in the parking lot. The carny that had left was back, there were thousands of people, rides spinning, kids screaming. A hand then extended to help me up. It was the girl I knew from inside the haunted hallway.
