HORROR / SUSPENSE STORIES

Corpses Walk the Earth

9/30/2020

In the small town of Atherton there had been a sighting of a Zombie one night by a little boy named Leon Finkle. Leon was only five, so nobody actually believed that he saw a zombie. His parents told him that he was mistaken but that it didn't mean that he was a dumb person just because he had made a mistake. Leon was convinced at what he had seen and pouted to his parents because they didn't believe him.
A couple of nights later little Leon claimed that he had seen the zombie again and when his parents ignored him he pulled out his cell phone and showed them the video he had taken on his camera. His parents watched with great interest as a strange figure in torn clothes, making groaning noises walked out of the bush for a split second and then turned around and disappeared into the darkness. Leon looked at his parents with eyes as wide as saucers. His parents didn't know what to say and merely patted him on the head and then told him it must have been a homeless man on drugs.

That night Leon decided to crawl out of his window and head out into the bush where he had seen the zombie. With great confidence the little boy entered the bush with his flashlight. He then heard something groan so he flipped on his beam and listened. There was rustling noise coming from the trees. He scanned the bush slowly and saw the figure. He locked eyes with it and the zombie let out a hooting noise and then walked in the opposite direction. Little Leon followed in behind.

Five minutes later Leon had walked through the bush and come out the other side. He was only a few hundred feet from entering the town graveyard. Leon watched as the zombie passed through the gates of the graveyard. Little Leon followed closely.

Inside the graveyard Leon noticed that there were several other walking zombies in varied decomposed states. Little Leon could not believe his little eyes so he decided he would not tell anyone and keep the secret to himself. He wanted to become friends with the zombies and thought he would invite them over to his birthday party next weekend.

Night after night he crawled out of his window to visit the graveyard and every time he went there were more and more walking zombies.

One day Leon decided to walk through the bush to the graveyard during the day to see what it was like in the light. When he arrived to the graveyard everything was quiet. There were no zombies.

That night he decided to go to the graveyard before sundown to see where the zombies were coming from. He sat atop a hill nearby and right at sundown he watched as all of the zombies appeared from the graves, digging themselves out with their rotting hands and partial limbs. The creatures all met in the center of the graveyard where a zombie who appeared to be the head zombie called over all the others. Leon couldn't hear what they were saying. A few minutes later all of the zombies stood back and the head zombie dug a fresh corpse out of the ground and laid it on the earth where he began to breath into the corpse's mouth giving it mouth to mouth resuscitation. Moments later the corpse sat up and soon after began walking.

The rest of the zombies exhumed their own corpses and breathed life into them through mouth to mouth resuscitation.

That night the zombie population in the town doubled.

Meanwhile Leon's parents awoke to find him missing. They immediately searched for the little boy knowing he was likely chasing zombies. They went to the bush where Leon had seen the zombie and as they made their way through they heard something from the graveyard.

Then just as they arrived to the perimeter they saw Leon lying on the hill opposite their side of the graveyard. He was sleeping on his back with a zombie overtop of him leaning down to perform mouth to mouth resuscitation...

Leon's mother screamed, "No, my baby!"
