The Fearsome Brothers

12/30/2020

They were the most feared and dreaded foursome in Canada at the time. They were four brothers from central Alberta, and were Ukrainian by descent. Their first names were Slaw, Slava, Metro, and Georgi. Their last name was Lawluk. The four boys all born one year apart grew up on a farm and refused to work the fields or work the pens. At the tender age of eleven Slaw who was the oldest finally had enough of his father asking him to work on the fields and when his father became physical with him Slaw flew into a rage beating the father into near death and had a good time doing it. His mother watched in horror at the sight of her first born beating his father.
From this day forward Slaw ruled the household and his father never raised a fist to any of the boys again. Now I will tell you a little bit about the boys.

Let's start with Slaw who was the oldest. He was a boy that was violent from a young age but the day that he beat his father he changed into an animal and would spend the rest of his life brawling and raising hell, ending up in jail on several occasions and finally ending up in jail for decades after killing a police officer.

The second oldest brother named Slava was almost as violent as Slaw, but he was more tempered and calculated as he picked his spots to brawl and enact revenge. He loved to go to funerals and weddings that he was not invited to and he would stir the pot by clipping people with his shoulder, knocking off their hats or slapping cigarettes out of their mouths. This was all done to invoke a reaction and start a scrap. But no matter what Slava's reputation was as a fighter there was always someone that wanted to tangle and Slava would make them pay with a blur of fists.

The third brother named Metro was a mouthpiece and would try to start trouble by yapping at people in a non-stop manner until they took a swing at him and then Metro would go to his signature move which was a knee or foot to the testicles and from this point he was capable of anything. He would scratch, bite, pinch the skin. He would gouge the eyes, fishhook the mouth, nose or ears. Nothing was off limits.

The youngest of the brothers named Georgi was not one for fists, he liked weapons. He usually carried some type weapon in his pocket, like a knife, screw driver or wrench. And when he didn't have a weapon on him and he got into a scrap he would grab anything around him to use as a weapon such a boot, knife, spoon, crowbar or bottle. His fights were the bloodiest as well as the most frightening as he was the most unpredictable because he loved to attack people for no reason.

As a whole the brothers would rob farmhouses, steal horses and light things on fire. They would roam the countryside looking for trouble and if they didn't find it they would start it. They drifted from town to town as the police tried to keep track of their many aliases and violent activities. And just when the police thought they had them they would disappear to work in a mine or on the railroad.

As the years passed nobody was sure what happened to them. They just sort of vanished. Then decades later there was a robbery of over a million dollars in Brazil and the descriptions of the four suspects were oddly similar to that of the Lawluk brothers.
