When do we take our final breath?
Does it come moments before or after our death?
When it comes do we know it's our last.
Will this breath be slow or will it end fast?
Does our brain remain alive after we stop breathing?
Or does it come to a stop without the slightest seething?
Why does our heart give out at a certain age?
Maybe our time on earth is complete at this stage.
The body lies still as the heart beats no more.
In a matter of hours our remains will turn to gore.
When the body is alive it looks so full of vigour.
But after the last breath, its countenance is so hard to figure.
The final breath and we vanish from this land.
We get plucked from the coffin by God's invisible hand.
It is the air we breath that gives us existence.
When we pass the air remains without our assistance.
After the final breath comes, the body says I no longer need.
The lungs, heart and brain don't require anymore feed.
The final breath will come and fill up my chest.
After the exhale I visit the place of eternal rest.
