Early in my childhood I never had any problems falling asleep until one night my mother was reading me a bed time story about monsters. The story scared me a little but I wasn't too worried as my mother had read me scary stories before. But just as she was tucking me in under the covers she said something to me that she had never said before. She stood in the doorway with her fingers on the light switch and said, "Don't let the bed bugs bite."
He was a man that was considered a malformed beast by society. He could not go out in public during the day and was relegated to walking the streets alone at night. Brody Brogdon was born a baby who only had one eye and a leg that was considerably longer than the other and one arm that was twice as long than the other. His parents were shocked when he was born and cried at the thought of raising the monster. The doctor had told the family that Brody's deformities were permanent and that other malignancies may be hidden in his DNA. The parents talked it over and agreed to accept Brody for what he was, but after several days they couldn't hide the fact that they no longer wanted the baby so they tried to give him up for adoption. Unfortunately, the adoption agency would not accept the baby because they could not afford the medical bills for Brody's conditions.
Richard and Rose Pearson had done everything in their power to raise their son, Hugo, to the best of their ability but the young boy was a five year old child that was a trouble maker from the day he was born. Despite the parents frequent attempts to discipline the child all he would do is laugh at them, behave for a bit and the next day he would be up to his same old mischief. He was not a child that liked to destroy things, he was a child that liked to play pranks on his parents. He loved to hide around corners to see their reaction to his gags and after he saw the reaction from them you could hear him laughing from his hiding spot.
I had seen him through my bedroom window when I was a little boy; a day I remembered so clearly. My parents had just put me to sleep and I was getting comfortable under the covers. It was a warm summer night and my windows were open to listen to the sounds of the night. And just as I was counting my sheep and drifting off to sleep I heard a noise that awoke me.
