My father once told me a story from way back when he was a boy living on the farm. He was 17 at the time, the year was 1962 when a loose aquatence of his by the name of Robert Yakimetz came to his house one night and asked my father if he wanted to meet a strange man in the bush. It was summer time and my father had nothing better to do so he said he'd go.
The story then goes as follows. My father and his friend Robert headed out on to the dirt roads. My dad asked Robert where they were going and Robert said that he would have to wait and see. The two young men drove for about 45 minutes in silence. The sun was just setting on the hot August night and by the time they had got to their destination the sun had passed over a hill in the west. Robert then suddenly turned off the dirt road onto a farmer's field. They drove for about 300 feet and then Robert stopped the car. The young men got out when Robert said, "We go on foot from here."
The boys ploughed through the thick bush until there was a small shack visible through the moonlight. They approached slowly and Robert signaled to my dad to stand back. Robert then knocked on the door and said, "Mr. Anderson. It's me Robert. I brought a friend. I hope that's okay."
The door opened a crack and a face with glasses peered out from behind the door and said, "Come in, come in and bring your friend."
They two boys made their way into the shack. My father told me that he was not really scared but excited with the prospect of meeting the strange eccentric as living on a farm didn't produce much excitement.
"What is your name?"
"Kenneth is my name. What is yours?"
The eccentric moved to the window and looked outside at the moon and said, "What difference does it make where I'm from."
My father said nothing and the eccentric continued, "My name is Gustav Albert Anderson. I have an earthlike name but I am not from earth. I am from the planet Astor. I arrived to earth in the 1800s amongst a meteor shower. I have been here for over 150 years. Soon they will come pick me up and take me back to where I came from."
"Who is they?" My dad asked.
"The other Astorites of course."
There was silence for a long period of time and during this time my father looked around the two room shack that was separated by a curtain that had seen it's better days. The floor was wooden that smelled of rot and mould. There was a hand drawn map of our solar system and the Milky Way galaxy, but it was very different from what he had learned in school.
My father spoke, "How come the map you have of our solar system and the Milky Way Galaxy is different from the one we learn in school?"
Mr. Anderson chuckled to himself and then regained his serious demeanor and said, "That's because they don't want you to know what is going on. They want to keep you in the dark so they can control you."
"The government. You see Kenneth, the government wants to dumb us down. Everybody thinks that the government is on the level, but they're not. I know because where I am from we have advanced scouts that have been here for longer than I have. We have cataloged the earth and your technology which it is quite primitive I must say."
"Can I see some of your technology?" Asked Kenneth.
"I don't know you well enough but if you come around again I will show you some things that you never thought possible."
My father moved closer to the curtain to take a peek in behind. But he got a little too close and Mr. Anderson said, "I think that it is time for you two to go. It's getting late."
The boys left and walked back to the car. My father told Robert to drive off and come back in 15 minutes to meet him at a corner junction. My father then hiked back to the house to look through a window. Mr. Anderson had his back to him, but the drape that separated the room was pulled back to reveal jars on shelves. Jars containing various organs and brains...
